THE SCHOOL

The San Diego Ba Gua Kung Fu Academy provides comprehensive instruction in traditional Ba Gua Zhang and Qi Gong. Ba Gua Zhang is a martial art system based on principles that originate directly from naturalist Chinese philosophy. It is a complete kung fu system that incorporates a comprehensive qi gong system in conjunction with the martial art aspects.  Both facets are considered essential for promoting the development of the Ba Gua practitioner.  

The San Diego Ba Gua Kung Fu Academy is located in the City of San Diego.  The school trains students in the basics: stance work, body flexibility, coordination drills, and standard form sets. Additional Ba Gua Zhang instruction includes footwork, striking drills, research sparring, combat sets, weapons, Ba Gua theory, and Ba Gua qi gong.   

Sifu Rogelio Lopez 

The Chief Instructor of the Academy is Sifu Rogelio Lopez. Sifu Lopez has been a student of Master Park Bok-Nam since 1992. Mr. Lopez began studying with Master Park after 17 years of serious training in yang and chen style tai chi chuan. Mr. Lopez follows the curriculum and training program approach as taught by Master Park.  Mr. Lopez is  currently semi-retired after a career in health services administration, public health programs and government relations. He graduated from the University of California San Diego with a BA in Political Science.  

Master Park Bok-Nam 

Master Park Bok-Nam is the senior lineage disciple of Lu Shui-Tan of Shangtung Province, China. Master Park studied full-time with Lu Shui-Tan for 17 years.  Master Park has developed one of the most comprehensive training programs for learning Ba Gua Zhang. With over 60 years of experience in Ba Gua Zhang, Master Park is one of the most skilled practitioners and instructors alive today.
